Coral Reef Health & Resilience

Veracruz Reefs Health and Stress Monitoring

Since 2018, every summer a group of organizations conduct underwater surveys in three coral reefs in the Veracruz Reefs National Park in Mexico. This project aims at developing a comprehensive and publicly available time series of the abundance of coral, fish and other submerged covers to estimate the overall reef health. This project uses the field methods of and directly contributes to the AGRRA community in the wider Caribbean region. Early in the project students from the Veracruz State University and National University of Mexico were trained in the AGRRA assessment protocols. by the Ocean Research & Education Foundation.

This project is conducted in collaboration with the Veracruz State University and Sea & Reef.
